1 jin* frozen, then thawed tofu
seasonings (salt, soy, garlic, etc)
3 Tbs oil
½ cup onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 ½ cup hot water
4 Tbs peanut butter
1 tsp minced ginger
1-2 Tbs la jiao (spicy peppers)
Cut thawed tofu into strips and bake or fry until lightly browned and crispy. Season to taste with salt, garlic and/or soy sauce and set aside. In a skillet, saute onions and garlic in oil. When soft, add water, ginger, peanut butter, salt and la jiao. Cook and stir until smooth. Place tofu in sauce and stir to coat. Serve with rice or noodles.
